"Hey! Mister Vergil! How do I look?"

I stared at the brown eyed magician as she hopped out of a curtained dressing stall. All I did was stare. Of all the things she choose. It wasn't like everyone else's choices. She always did go for the undersold crap.
She tilted her head to the side with an adorable smile. Her body swayed about to show off the semi-flow of the costume. If she was wearing it, then it was fine. The girl in the picture could never wear it the way this crazy human could.

"Weeeell?"
"Do you want the truth?"
"Yes!"
"It's nothing like the picture."
"Really? But I thought it looked-"
"It's better on you now hurry up and lets go."

Her giggles could be heard from behind the curtain as I turned away and waited for her.

****************

I can't believe I just bought a costume for my baby. Just because it reminded me of her mother. She would look cute; like a little clone of her mother only she has white hair and blue eyes.
The shit I'm going to get once I'm back at the shop. I'll never hear the end of it from Dante and his disgusting she-demon. This is the point of no return now. My daughter would officially be going trick or treating.

Of course, seeing a dark, black plastic bag meant only one thing to Dante and Trish: I bought a costume. They were sarcastically grinning, trying not to laugh and almost began to run their stupid mouths till Lavender started to cry.
The silence of the second floor was relaxing. My daughter ate away at four ounces of formula and fell asleep afterwards. Thanks to Dante, the outer side of the crib was decorated according to this month's theme. No protest from me as long as it does no harm to her.
Minutes later, I was faced with the costume once more. It was out of the bag and sprawled over the bed. It was almost identical to what her mother wore on her last Halloween. Every time I looked at it, it made me remember her.

"Your mother would probably squeeze you to death if she were to see you in this odd costume."

****************

"Are you going to join me in this candy crusade?"
"I'll watch from afar."
"No! Absolutely not! You can beeeee..... Oh! I know!"
"What?"
"The Tin Man! From The Wizard of Oz!"
"No."
"You can be a bird and I'll scare you away!"
"Do you really want to do that?"
"I'll scare you into submission, mister!"
"Will you now?"

Her laughter turned into giggles then turned into squeals which then turned into one of those never ending nights.
And that was my first Halloween. I would be the bird that she'd scare away or at least the bird she'd keep perched on her arm. There's no better place. Hell isn't too bad but this is much better.

I would be the bird that protects her from being torn apart. She would not know pain, especially the pain I've been through. Any ominous creature to come near will be torn apart over and over again till I was satisfied with my work.
If I was actually going to go through with this then I would have to make sure I was at my best. If it meant staying out every night and leaving my daughter in her Uncle's care, then so be it.

I will not be weak. My power is absolute, as is my will to keep this little girl safe.
Part 2 is short! :P That's not a bad thing though! There may be a sketch of the costume coming up! I say maybe because I just found out we got a new child in the four year old class and that means I have an extra pumpkin critter to make! Not to mention the Yellow beanie I have to knit per my brother's request for his girlfriend! Oh, the things I put myself through!

Enough about my drama!!! Enjoy! :D
